Jason E. Speake
Jason is from the small town of Ninety Six, South Carolina. Although born in Georgia, he was raised here and is a South Carolinian through, and through. Jason received his Master of Business Administration degree from The Citadel Military College of South Carolina. He received his undergraduate degree in Accounting from Lander University in Greenwood, South Carolina.
Before joining South Carolina Power Team, Jason served as Director of Business Development at the North Eastern Strategic Alliance (NESA). Prior to that Jason was a Project Manager in the Global Business Development Division for the South Carolina Department of Commerce. Jason was one of the leading business recruiters for South Carolina with a primary focus on the Automotive and Distribution Industries. He has worked with many companies across the state, resulting in commitments of more than 4,000 new jobs and over $568 million in new investment. As a project manager with the SC Department of Commerce for five years, Jason won acclaim for his work within rural South Carolina. The award recognized him for projects he led which accounted for 790 new jobs and capital investment of more than $62 million in rural areas of the state in 2014.
In his role as Senior Project Manager, Jason focuses his time on industry recruitment and job growth in the South Carolina Power Team service territory. He provides SC Power Team partners with assistance on all facets of the site selection process, as well as supporting Domestic and International marketing missions.
Jason is a member of the South Carolina Economic Developers’ Association (SCEDA)—South Carolina’s advocate for economic development professionals and policies affecting the industry. Spending time with his family and friends is important to Jason. He enjoys traveling and participating in most outdoor activities. Jason, his wife Lindsey, and their two daughters (Annabelle and Amelia) make their home in West Columbia, South Carolina.

Who Jason was back then …
after college Jason moved to NYC and worked in the Commercial Banking industry. His plan was to become a commercial real estate developer before discovering the impact economic development can have on a community. After high school, he planned on being a welder and even earned his welding certificate from a technical college.
