Rite Aid selects Spartanburg County for New Distribution Center

Rite Aid announced plans to build a 900,000-square-foot distribution center in Spartanburg. The new center is expected to employ nearly 600 people and will support the inventory and fulfillment needs of approximately 1,000 Rite Aid stores in the Southeastern United States. The Spartanburg distribution center, a $90 million project, will be Rite Aid’s first new distribution facility in 15 years.

Kiswire Initiates Phase II of Their $30 Million Expansion

Kiswire Inc., a manufacturer of steel cord and bead wire, commenced the second phase of its Newberry County expansion. This phase, a $30 million investment, is expected to result in 45 new jobs in Newberry, SC. The first phase of Kiswire Inc. Steel Cord Division represented a $15 million investment and 30 new jobs, which came to fruition when production began at its new manufacturing site in December 2013.

Sigmatex Selects Orangeburg for Largest North American Facility

Sigmatex, a world leader in the manufacturing of carbon fiber textiles for the aerospace and automotive industries, announced their selection of Matthews Industrial Park in Orangeburg County as the location for its next facility. The company will invest $12 million initially and create 50 jobs over the next five years.

Belk’s Union County Facility to Expand Footprint by 50 Percent

Department store retailer Belk, Inc., announced in July, 2014 the expansion of its Union County e-commerce distribution and fulfillment center operations for the second time since establishing there in mid-June 2012. The $47 million investment will expand the facility footprint by 50 percent and add 20 new jobs, which will grow the company’s Jonesville presence to 314 employees.

Dedicated Workforce Influences Fruit Of The Loom Expansion in Summerville

Fruit of the Loom announced plans to expand the company’s Berkeley County distribution center to help service Fruit of the Loom’s growing e-commerce and intimates businesses. The $26 million investment is expected to create 49 new jobs by 2016 and will more than double its size by expanding the center an additional 402,000 square feet to the current 350,000-square-foot building.

LPL Financial, LLC, the nation’s largest independent broker/dealer, (based on total revenues, Financial Planning magazine, June 1996-2014), an RIA custodian, and a wholly owned subsidiary of LPL Financial Holdings Inc., announced its plans to construct a new regional headquarters in Fort Mill, South Carolina. The company will invest $150 million initially and create 3,000 jobs in the coming years.
