Board of Trustees

The South Carolina Power Team Board of Trustees is comprised of both electric cooperative CEOS and Trustees representing individual cooperatives.

Terry Mallard

Broad River Electric Cooperative, Inc.


Terry Mallard has been President and CEO of Broad River Electric Cooperative since March 2016. Prior to joining Broad River Electric Cooperative he was a regional vice president for National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation (CFC) where he assisted and trained the senior staff and trustees of electric cooperatives across the United States.

Terry is currently chair of the board of trustees for New Horizon Electric Cooperative and member of the Central Electric Power Cooperative and Electric Cooperatives of South Carolina boards of trustees.

Terry graduated magna cum laude from Campbell University and holds a Master of Arts in Christian education from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.

He and his wife Vickie have three children and nine grandchildren.

Mary Sheridan

Chairperson, Black River Electric Cooperative Board


Mary Sheridan is a native of Dalzell, SC. She is a graduate of the University of South Carolina, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism with an emphasis on Advertising/Public Relations and a Master of Education in Secondary Guidance/Counseling. She worked over 30 years in public, private, secondary and higher education, and spent the last 17 years as the Public Information Coordinator for Sumter School District. She retired in December 2017.

Mary has served on the Black River Electric Cooperative Board since 2001 and currently serves as Chairperson.

In addition to her service at Black River, Mary is active in the local community, where she serves on the Sumter Behavioral Health Board, Tuomey Hospital Foundation Board, former president and sustaining member of the Sumter Junior Welfare League, former vice president of the Iris Festival Commission, former president and current member of The Forum, a women’s networking organization, and is an active member of Church of the Ascension in Hagood, SC.

Mary and her husband, Hunter, have been married for 37 years and have one son and two spoiled dogs.

Daniel “Danny” B. Shelley, III

Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer, Horry Electric Cooperative


Danny Shelley is the Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of Horry Electric Cooperative. 

Danny graduated from Newberry College with a B.S. in Accounting. He has held a Certified Public Accountant license for more than 30 years, received his Chartered Global Management Accountant designation, and is a graduate of the Robert I. Kabat Management Internship Program.

Danny’s grandfather, W. Hal King was one of Horry Electric’s founding 627 charter members. Danny grew up understanding the importance of the electric cooperative to the rural community and has spent his career serving the members of Horry Electric. Danny was born and raised in Mullins, S.C. He is married and has two children whom both live in South Carolina. In his spare time, he loves hunting, being outdoors, and spending time with his family.

Charles Adair

Charles grew up in Clinton, South Carolina on a dairy farm. He is a graduate of Presbyterian College where he earned a BS in Business Administration and Management. In 1980 he founded the company, Palmetto Dairy Supply, which is in operation today.

In June 1987, Charles was elected to the Board of Directors of Laurens Electric Cooperative and currently serves as Chairman. In 1998, he was elected to the Board of Directors of Federated Rural Electric Exchange and served three 3-year terms before retiring from that position in 2007. In addition to his service at Federated Rural Electric Exchange, he became a Director of Central Electric Cooperative in August 2017, received his Board Leadership Certification from NRECA in October 2012 and received his Director Gold Certification in January 2016.

Charles has been married to his high school sweetheart since 1975. They have a son, a daughter and four grandsons, and are so proud and grateful for all of them.

Paul Basha

York Electric Cooperative, Inc.


Paul Basha is the President and CEO of York Electric Cooperative, Inc. He is responsible for managing and directing overall operations of the Cooperative’s major departments in conformity with the policies set by the Board of Directors.

Paul began working at York Electric Cooperative in 1989 and became the President and CEO in 2003. He has served as a board member of the following organizations: Fort Mill Economic Development Council, York County Regional Chamber of Commerce Board, York County Economic Development Board (Chairman), The Electric Cooperatives of South Carolina Board – Loss Control and Training Committee (Chairman), Cooperative Electric Energy Utility Supply Board, New Horizon Electric Cooperative Board (Secretary).

Paul attended Clemson University where he earned his BS in Electrical Engineering. He has lived in York County for 30 years and currently resides in Rock Hill with his wife, Sarah.

Paul serves in various community groups such as Rotary International, York County Growth Partners and ministries catering to the less fortunate. As an elder in a local church, he is actively involved in various ministries. In his spare time, Paul enjoys fishing, golf and anything that involves his wife and three kids.

Brian Broughton

Lynches River Electric Cooperative, Inc.


Brian is the President and CEO of Lynches River Electric Cooperative, Inc. located in Pageland, South Carolina.

He grew up in Heath Springs, S.C. and attended the University of South Carolina, where he received a BS in Mathematics. Brian serves on the Central Board, the SC Statewide Board and CEEUS board. He also serves as Chairman of the Power Committee. He is proud to be a founding partner in Rivernet Connect, which provides high-speed fiber to the home of three of the counties the co-op serves. Brian has been married to his wife, Melanie, for 20 years and has two sons, Brody and Banks, both of whom play football, basketball, and baseball. Brian is an active participant in the community and a devout member of the Second Baptist Church of Lancaster, SC.

Jamie Bunton

Coastal Electric Cooperative Board


Jamie Bunton is a Vice President with Bank of the Lowcountry and has been there since 2007. In 2013, Jamie was elected to the Coastal Electric Cooperative Board of Trustees, where he has served multiple positions such as board Treasurer, Secretary and is currently serving as Vice President.

Jamie is a graduate of the Citadel and earned a master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.

Jamie is a Walterboro native. He and his wife Jennifer have been married for 22 years and have two children. In his free time, Jamie enjoys hunting deer and turkey, and he loves watching Clemson football.

Johnnie L. Dickert

Johnnie is retired from Dickert Lumber Company and serves as Chairman of the Board for Newberry Electric Cooperative.

Johnnie is a graduate of Newberry College and is Director Gold Certified from NRECA. He also serves on the board of The Electric Cooperatives of South Carolina, Central Electric Cooperative, and Vice Chairman of the Board of Carolina Connect.

Johnnie and his wife Rachel reside in Newberry, SC. They have a daughter, a son, and 5 grandchildren. The Dickert family is a member of Mayer Memorial Lutheran Church, where Johnnie serves on the church council.

Michael “Mike” Fuller

Berkeley Electric Cooperative


Mike Fuller is the President and CEO of Berkeley Electric Cooperative, the largest electric cooperative in South Carolina serving over 125,000 meters in parts of Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties.

With 31 years of cooperative experience, Mike began his career at Berkeley Electric Cooperative in September 2020, after serving as President and CEO at Pee Dee Electric Cooperative in Darlington, SC from 2017-2020 and at Consolidated Electric Cooperative in Mexico, MO from 2006-2017.

Mike has actively served and continues to serve on various national, statewide, and local civic and cooperative industry organizations. He holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Business Administration.

Mike and his wife, Marla, are parents to two children, Brett (25) and Ashley (21). They are active church members and enjoy outdoor activities together as a family.

Robert Hochstetler

Central Electric Power Cooperative, Inc.


Robert C. Hochstetler is the President and CEO of Central Electric Power Cooperative located in Columbia, South Carolina.

Prior to joining the Central Electric Power Cooperative, Robert worked in the energy field for 23 years gaining valuable experience as the Vice President of Power Production for Hoosier Energy, Vice President of Operations for Cinergy Solutions and he was even asked to lead the Market Risk Program at Duke Energy.

Robert is a registered Professional Engineer in South Carolina, New York and Indiana. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, an MBA from Indiana State University, a Master’s in Statistics from Rochester Institute of Technology, a Masters in Strategic Management from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business, a Master’s in Public Policy from the Strom Thurmond School of Government at Clemson University and is currently enrolled in classes at Washington University studying law and legal issues.

He and his wife, Linda, have been married 25 years and they reside in Chapin, SC with their family.

Gary Stooksbury

Aiken Electric Cooperative, Inc.


Gary Stooksbury is the CEO of Aiken Electric Cooperative, Inc., a position he has held since March 1995.

Originally from Tennessee, he holds a BS in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and a Masters of Business Administration from Bristol University, also in Tennessee.

Prior to joining Aiken Electric Cooperative, Gary was the CEO of LaFollette Utilities Board in LaFollette, Tennessee.

Barbara Weston

Chairperson, Tri-County Electric Cooperative, Inc.


Barbara Flemming Weston is an experienced educator who has taught English, Honors English, speech, and drama at Keenan High School and Five Points Alternative High School. She has worked as an Education Consultant for the State Department of Education, a Council Specialist for the SC School Improvement Council and was appointed by the Governor to serve on the SC Adoption Review Board where she served as chairperson.

She holds a BA in Education from South Carolina State University, a Master of Education from Cambridge College and Plus 30 Hours from the University of South Carolina, Furman and the College of Charleston.

Barbara is a national Milken Educator and has served on several boards, including the SC Professional Review Committee of Colleges and Schools, the College of Charleston’s School of Education Advisory Board, and the SC State Board of Education. She is currently a Trustee on the South Carolina Student Loan Board, chairperson of the Tri-County Electric Cooperative Board, and trustee of Richland School District One.

She is a lifelong resident of the Eastover community and serves as an educational consultant and trustee at Goodwill Baptist Church. She is married to Samuel L. Weston and has two sons, Samuel E. Weston and the late Julian A. Weston. Barbara enjoys spending quality time with her granddaughters.
